Ep 52. Wio, Women and What’s Next:
A Conversation with Amina Taher
In this episode of Money Majlis with Suvo Sarkar, we look at the rise of digital banking in the UAE through the lens of one person’s journey: Amina Taher, Chief Marketing Officer of Wio Bank.
Amina has spent two decades moving across investment firms, media, aviation and now fintech, helping to shape some of the region’s most visible brands while continuously reinventing herself as a leader. Wio’s rapid scale-up to nearly 400,000 customers and over AED 50B in deposits provides the backdrop, but the real story here is how Amina thinks about brand, culture and people in a world where everything is becoming digital.
Ep 42 with Brett King: Futurist Brett King on the new economics of banking
In this electrifying episode of Money Majlis, Suvo Sarkar sits down with Brett King, the world’s most cited financial futurist, to unpack the seismic shifts reshaping global banking. Fresh from hosting the inaugural Dubai Futurists X Summit, Brett joins Suvo in the heart of Dubai to explore the end of physical branches, the rise of AI-powered finance, and the cultural fault lines between legacy banks and digital challengers.
Brett’s new book Branch Tomorrow forecasts that half of US bank branches will vanish by 2030, a seismic shift mirrored by trends across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
Ep 46: Beyond Apps: Why the Next Tech Revolution Must Tackle Energy, Food, and Poverty
In this riveting new episode of Money Majlis, Suvo Sarkar welcomes Pablos Holman, the legendary hacker, inventor, and futurist whose creativity transforms science fiction into the fabric of our daily lives. Suvo engages Pablos in a conversation that reveals why the world’s biggest crises require not just incremental “apps,” but audacious, moonshot technologies that redefine what’s possible for humanity.
Pablos’s career is a journey across innovation’s wildest frontiers: from pioneering cryptocurrency in the early 1990s and building spaceships at Blue Origin with Jeff Bezos, to serving as chief provocateur at Intellectual Ventures Lab, where he and his teams invent everything from nuclear reactors powered by waste to laser-based systems for eradicating malaria mosquitoes.
Ep XTRA 11 : Beyond 1983: Kapil Dev on Cricket, Culture and Courage
In this XTRA edition of Money Majlis, the conversation steps out of the boardroom and into the dressing room with one of the most iconic leaders world sport has ever produced, Kapil Dev. From Chandigarh’s dusty grounds to lifting the 1983 World Cup at Lord’s, Kapil Dev’s story is not just about runs and wickets, but about belief, resilience and courage. Across this episode, host Suvo Sarkar explores how a fast-bowling all rounder, who never missed a single Test due to injury over 16 years, built his engine, his mindset and his leadership philosophy.
